During 2024, Revenio's net impact profile was updated by an independent evaluator, the Upright Project. The assessment model constructs a comprehensive view of the positive and negative impacts generated by the company's value chain using mathematical modeling based on machine learning. This modeling is conducted using a database of scientific articles containing large volumes of data. Upright’s evaluation provides Revenio’s stakeholders with insights into how the company’s business activities affect people, the environment, society, and knowledge.
The analysis examined the overall net impact of the company's operations across four main categories:
• Surrounding society
• Health
• Environment
• The creation and distribution of knowledge
The analysis highlights the impact of the company's products and services throughout the value chain, providing valuable information and feedback for our product development and operations, also from a sustainability perspective.
Revenio’s most significant and essential positive impact is on human health. The company’s products and services play a crucial role in the diagnostics of physical eye diseases and, beyond that, in preventing other illnesses.
Another key positive impact in Revenio’s highly specialized field is the creation of new knowledge. Through its products and technological solutions, Revenio contributes to the development of new research findings. Additionally, the company generates a positive societal impact by paying taxes.
As a knowledge-based organization, intellectual and expertise capital is a core resource and a fundamental part of our business. We leverage expertise in creating all our positive impacts. Therefore, we also focus on ensuring the sustainability of this resource—employee well-being. The analysis considers intellectual capital as a finite resource globally, meaning that its use is seen as having a negative impact, regardless of the purpose for which it is utilized.
The assessment found that negative environmental impacts, such as contributions to climate change, were moderate relative to the positive impacts. These effects primarily arise from use of raw materials, logistics, and the supply chain, as well as waste generated during manufacturing processes and disposal.
Revenio’s net impact was ranked among the highest within the Nasdaq Helsinki company group, where the weighted net impact tends to be negative, mainly due to environmental emissions. Compared globally, Revenio’s net impact profile in the healthcare sector is also higher in effectiveness than the industry average.
